Mohammed Al Hawajri

Mohammed Al-Hawajri is a Palestinian artist born in 1976 in the Al Bureij refugee camp in Gaza. He is a founding member of the Eltiqa Group for
Contemporary Art in Gaza.

Al-Hawajri has been active in the art scene since the late 1990s, participating in various international exhibitions and residencies including Documenta 15, where his work was part of an exhibition co-curated by Eltiqa Group and The Question of Funding.

His work often reflects the living conditions in Gaza, combining elements of sarcasm and reality to highlight socio- political issues. Al-Hawajri works across a variety of mediums and techniques including painting, video, and photography, and employs unconventional materials such as household spices and animal bones. Al-Hawajri’s notable projects include Cactus Borders, Animal Farm, and Guernica-Gaza
