Inass Yassin

Inass Yassin is a Palestinian artist whose practice moves between painting, archival research, and site-specific interventions.

Her work explores how images and spaces shape collective memory while reflecting social and spatial transformations. Over nearly two decades, she has developed two interconnected trajectories: one examining urban and architectural change through drawing and mixed-media works, and another tracing social transformation through portraiture, photography, and popular image traditions.

Her latest project, Beauties of the Town, investigates shifting modes of representation, memory, and community narratives. In these works, figuration becomes a space of both presence and absence within Palestinian rural contexts. In earlier long-term public and sitespecific projects, including Projection, Studio Cairo, and Romantic Boycott, Yassin explored collective narratives through interventions that examine the relationship between social and
spatial change.

Her practice often involves building archives and creating images that reveal the connections between place, memory, and everyday life.

Living and working in Palestine, Yassin’s practice is closely connected to the cultural and urban transformations of Palestinian society since the 1980s.

Her curatorial experience, including her role as director of the Birzeit University Museum, further informs her socially engaged and research-driven approach.
She has exhibited extensively in Palestine and internationally, and her works are held in major public and private collections.
